Otley Courthouse is seeking additional Members for its Board
Otley Courthouse is now in its 13th year and is continuing to develop. Our popular programme of music, comedy, film, talks and theatre is going from strength to strength; attracting room hirers to the Courthouse for everything from Preschooler groups to Brass Band rehearsals; and seeking support for longer term plans to build an extension with a large flexible use auditorium to the rear of our current building.
The eight current Board members work closely with the Centre Manager, Staff and over 130 volunteers. With lots of exciting developments in the pipeline we are looking for additional Board members who can contribute to the running of the Courthouse in terms of both time and expertise.
It is important to note that membership of the Board is not a remote Trustee role. Board members attend monthly Board meetings to review and plan the Courthouse’s development. They also participate in focussed sub-committee meetings to which much of the decision making power is delegated, as well as spending time at the Courthouse both formally –House-Managing events and meeting with staff, and informally – as volunteers (in a variety of roles). They have legal, financial and managerial responsibility for the organisation and its staff and volunteers and are both trustees and directors of the charitable limited company with their liability limited to £1.
The present Board members bring a variety of skill and knowledge areas to their roles as Trustees, and potential Board members with expertise in any of the following areas are invited to apply:
- Marketing and audience development
- Managing organisational change
- Professional experience in the Arts
Expressions of interest are, however, invited from anyone who feels that they can make a real contribution to an organisation with a proven track record.
If you are attracted to the idea of contributing to the continued success of this unique arts and resource centre, and feel that you have the time and expertise to make a real impact please contact Rachael Savage at firstname.lastname@example.org for short application and information pack.
Please let us know of your interest by 31 Oct.
