Courthouse Timeline

On the cell corridor there are four panels depicting the history of the Courthouse from 1856 to the present day. The history of the Courthouse is shown against the time-frame of Otley and national events, and comprises a series of photographs, images and anecdotes in a timeline format.

Panel two, for example, depicts the historical timeline from 1900 to 1949.
It includes photographs of Westgate School in 1907 and the newly erected clock tower in Otley Market place as it was in 1900. You can also read about the Black Horse Hotel Manager, who was fined £3 by the Court for ‘supplying beer after hours’

Come and visit the timeline in the cell corridor and see the rich history of Otley and the Courthouse
