Let Otley Courthouse take away that initial panic of the school holidays!!
We always have a jam packed range of events, workshops, films and activities to keep the little ones entertained and to stop the boredom kicking in.

Here are our list of events that we have coming up.


Saturday 21st October

7 – 9 years  10am – 12.30pm

10 – 14 years   2pm – 4.30pm


Back by popular demand our friends Junior STEM are back for a day of fantastic Lego fun.  Junior STEM specialise in computer and engineering technology, and this half term is the chance for all you budding master builders to see your Lego creations brought to life.  Using computer software, motors and sensors, you can build a hungry alligator and watch its jaws snap!  Or build a train and see it move along.  This is a great chance to build all kinds of things and make them move using the power of technology.

Monday 23rd October

10 -11.30am

Age 6+



Kim Searle who brought us the marbling and bookbinding workshop during the summer holidays is back!  This time she will be showing us the art of monoprinting.  This print making technique combines tracing, mark making, rolling pins and lots of different textures to create unique works of art.  We’ll be drawing, using foliage and lots of interesting materials to create our art work, and no two pieces will ever look the same.

Tuesday 24th October

10am – 12pm

Jam Jar Aquariums and Lanterns WORKSHOP


Kim Searle is back again with more craft fun.  We’ll be using jam jars and a variety of different paper, foam and card to make our own tiny worlds in a jar.  Make fish that float, jellyfish that wiggle or a simple illuminated lantern to welcome in the longer nights.

Wednesday 25th October

10am – 12pm

Are you brave enough to sit in a cell at Otley Courthouse and listen to stories of ghastly deeds and eerie goings on? If so join storyteller Vickie Orton for gruesome tales followed by a tie-dye workshop where you can create your own unique trick or treat swag bag. Don’t wear your best clothes as we will be using permanent dyes on the bags.

Friday 27th October

10am – 12pm & 1-3pm

If you think that science and physics is boring, then think again!  We are pleased to be welcoming back Dawn Feather and her team from Inspired Workshops for this fantastic event.  To celebrate our 10th anniversary of the Otley Science Festival, come along and get involved in some great experiments and create some really cool stuff all inspired by the marvel that is gravity.  Through a series of experiments we’ll explore how physics is used to make things roll, bounce and fly!  Plus you will get to make your own stop motion films using plasticine and Lego.

£6 per session or £12 for the whole day

Please note that children aged 7 must be accompanied by an adult

Lunch is not included.


Otley Courthouse is a unique development run by people in Otley, West Yorkshire. After an eight year development period we transformed a redundant nineteenth century magistrates court into a unique arts and resource centre for our community.
