Join the Otley Chamber Orchestra for their Annual Concert in the Bridge Street Chapel Hall, conducted, once again, by Ben Frampton. For over fifteen years this has become a keenly anticipated event in Otley’s music calendar with many of our players from the local area. A key reason for the orchestra’s appeal is the attention given to offering programmes which are enjoyable to play and also highly attractive to those interested in classical music.
The main work will be Haydn’s Symphony 101 ‘The Clock’. This is the nineth of his twelve London Symphonies. Popularly known as ‘The Clock’ because of its ticking rhythm throughout the slow movement, Haydn began composing it in 1793 in Vienna and completed it in London. The Symphony caused a sensation at its premiere with the first two movements being encored. This isa very fine classical symphony noted for its sense of balance, symphonic power, sophistication and appeal to audiences. ‘The Clock’ will be part of an engaging and well-balanced programme which will please and entertain our audience of friends and supporters.
This is an evening not to be missed!
