The York Waits, with singer Deborah Catterall, present Welcome Yule – Ancient Music for the Festive Season

The York Waits return to Otley Courthouse for an afternoon concert of joyful, festive music from medieval and renaissance Europe. The programme contains early English carols, seasonal compositions by the Elizabethan masters, William Byrd and Orlando Gibbons, chorales from Germany, songs of the Italian shepherds and familiar items from the folk tradition.
The Waits are regular visitors to Otley, and bring a wide range of period instruments, including shawms and sackbuts, curtals, recorders, flutes, bagpipes, fiddles, guitar, harp, hurdy gurdy and portative organ.
