Our regular Science Café returns once more with a veritable cornucopia of science.

It is 1725 and Sir Isaac Newton is sorting out his letters during the last year of his life. This dramatic reconstruction, lasting about one hour, is based entirely on authentic letters, contemporary reports and material. 

Our café is just the place to sample some new science - and something from the bar! Each speaker has a quarter of an hour to talk, then you, the audience, take over.

The discovery of the structure and functions of the remarkable Antikythera Mechanism  - Greek, 1st or 2nd century BCE - by modern imaging methods will be described and illustrated.

Prof. Jim Wild of Lancaster University, and President of the Royal Astronomical Society, considers the resilience of the modern world to extreme space weather.
